EMU Industrial Engineering Department Hosted ESTIEM Council Meeting

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Engineering, Industrial Engineering Department Student Club (IE-Club) held one of their most important events; the biannual 59th Council Meeting of ESTIEM, (European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management) in Famagusta with great success.

Founded in 1990, ESTIEM has 74 membering Industrial Engineering Students’ Clubs representing over 60.000 students from 29 European countries. Since 2002, EMU Industrial Engineering Students’ Club has been the only membering club of the island in ESTIEM, including South Cyprus.

ESTIEM aims to provide Industrial and Business Engineering students with the knowledge and experience about the possible problems they may face in business life, the projects they will undertake, and the crises they will have to manage through various activities and competitions.

Participated by more than 250 participants including 74 student representatives from 26 European countries including Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Spain and Switzerland, 148 university representative delegates, ESTIEM Executive Board, Alumni Executive Board, graduates with high careers, Committee Leaders, Project Leaders, Regional Representatives and instructors, the organisation hosted numerous meetings.  The meetings hosted the evaluation of the various activities of ESTIEM throughout the year, the election of the new Executive Board, presentations and voting on the ESTIEM Strategic Plan, various workshops for students’ personal development and presentations of the Strategic Partners of ESTIEM.

According to the information released by EMU  Industrial Engineering Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan İzbırak, the guests also had the opportunity to explore the historical, cultural and natural beauties of Cyprus through social trips. The department owes the event’s success to Industrial Engineering Department Student Club Chair Yetkin Koç and 30 students from the department all of whom worked under the leadership of Mohammad D’yab, Nilay Olgun, Mossab Hamdi, Hamna Ashfaq and Mahmoud Saad.
