EMU Continuing Education Centre Courses Continue on Campus and Beyond

The Eastern Mediterranean University Continuing Education Centre (EMU-CEC) has carried its education and teaching beyond campus. EMU-CEC continues to contribute to the lifelong education of people from all walks of society via certificate programs, courses and seminars. A press release was recently made regarding EMU-CEC’s activities and projects for the new academic semester.

EMU-CEC’s Nicosia Projects 

According to the statement released by the EMU Public Relations and Press Office Directorate EMU-CEC has started an initiative to hold larger and longer projects in the capital Nicosia where they have previously held training. EMU-CEC President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Korhan touched upon EMU-CEC’s activities for the new semester. Emphasizing that scientific, technological and cultural change takes place very rapidly in this day and age Assoc. Prof. Dr. Korhan indicated that individuals need to enhance their knowledge and skills regardless of their age. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Korhan continued by stating: “EMU-CEC has been continuing to organize activities since 2004 with the slogan of Lifelong Learning”. It is the only institution in Cyprus to be a founding member of the Council of Turkish Universities Continuing Education Centers (TÜSEM) and a full-member of the European University Continuing Education Network (EUCEN). The centre which also holds an ISO:9001 certificate has contributed to the lifelong education of approximately 40 thousand people so far.”

Certificates Valid for Promotions

EMU-CEC President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Korhan noted that in addition to organizing education programs and events for individual and vocational development EMU-CEC also provides services aimed towards university students and those who have a profession to help them to prepare and sit for international exams: “Throughout the year the centre holds preparatory courses for international academic and private English proficiency exams such as TOEFL-IBT and TOLES. Our centre also has the authority to implement these exams. Official bodies, non-governmental organizations, professional associations and private companies operating in Nicosia can also meet their educational needs via EMU-CEC.” Highlighting that EMU-CEC certificates and documents hold the logos EUCEN, TÜSEM and EMU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Korhan expressed that these certificates and documents are valuable for job applications and promotions. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Korhan also added that EMU’s training is validated in all areas.

Courses, seminars and certificate programs have been continuing for 15 years straight

Underlining that there is demand for training planned to take place from January 2019 to the end of the year EMU-CEC President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Korhan stated that they will soon be completing their planning for 2020 as well. Stating that the centre holds courses such as English, Introduction to Computing, Computer-assisted Accounting, German, French, Greek and Excel for individuals at different levels each year Prof. Dr. Korhan highlighted that they will soon be publishing a calendar on the centre’s web site and social media that will feature all courses available from the end of 2019 to 2020.  Prof. Dr. Korhan went on to indicate that in addition to general courses, there is high demand for training in more specific fields. Prof. Dr. Korhan highlighted that the centre has been providing courses, seminars and certificate programs for 15 years straight in addition to internationally accepted education such as CISCO. Describing EMU-CEC as a centre operating for the benefit of the society, Prof. Dr. Korhan concluded that they will continue to serve the public with the concept of “There is still a lot to learn!”
