Within the Industrial Engineering premises, there are laboratories for educational and research purposes, a student club which fosters professional and social development among students, a library, a reading room, seven classrooms, a multi-purpose auditorium equipped with sophisticated sound and light technology, and a seminar room with a wide selection of audiovisual presentation tools. All classrooms and offices have central heating and cooling.
We have various laboratories for education and research purposes. These are computer laboratories, equipped with the recent state-of-the-art technology, providing service to students 7 days a week, 14 hours a day; simulation and optimization laboratory, used mostly for graduate research; multimedia laboratory, used for the purpose of preparing files that contain multi-media communication tools and CDs, or for presentations that require sound and action; work study and ergonomics laboratory, mostly used for undergraduate courses, and computer integrated manufacturing laboratory, used for enabling students to comprehend and apply computer integrated manufacturing.
All programs, excluding those specified as Turkish, are delivered in English.
* : Indicated programs do not admit new students.

Quality of Graduates
The value of our graduates is understood better day after day in various fields of the industry. Our graduates can find jobs in Turkey , TRNC or other countries, in mid-sized firms as well as large corporations. It is quite common for our students ending up having job offers as they attract the attention of firms during their comprehensive industrial training. Our students prove that they can provide added value to many fields due to their engineering knowledge, application skills, and foreign language.
Our graduates are accepted into MS, MBA, and PhD programs of esteemed educational institutions such as Northeastern University (USA), University of Hartford (USA), University of Louisiana (USA), London School of Economics ( UK ), Linköpings University ( Sweden ), Bosphorus University ( Turkey ), and Istanbul Technical University ( Turkey ).
Industrial Engineers can work in many areas in the industry. Some of the possible employment areas include technology management, operations research, systems engineering, optimization, flexible manufacturing systems, planning and control of production and inventory systems, ergonomics, computer applications, process control, multi-objective decision making, machine scheduling, performance evaluation, simulation, service sector, and administrative duties.
In the information and technology age, industrial engineers are also expected to find many job opportunities in emerging areas such as knowledge management, innovation/R&D management, technology management, change management, and supply chain management.
Among the notable institutions our graduates are employed by Microsoft, Danone, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Arcelik, Huhtamaki, Admitted to MS in MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) of USA, Atlas Copco, Google Campus California (San Francisco USA), Bridgestone Europe (Brussels Belgium), Atlasjet Georgia (Tiflis Gurcistan), Ernst & Young Chicago – USA , Bechtel Maryland, Telephonics New York, Berg Group Ontario, Barsan Global Logistics Barcelona, Ford, SunExpress Airlines, Reckitt Benckiser, Pirelli, Iconmobile UK, Q - Cells Germany, Symantec, Roketsan, Alba Plastics, Dogus Otomotive, Ceva Logistics , Inform Electronics - Dubai, Enerji SA, Lider Automotive, Petrol Ofisi Oil & Energy, Huhtamaki Consumer and Specialty Packaging Company, Istanbul Eye Hospital, Saudi Cable Co. - Saudi Arabia, Veco Engineering, Reem Emirates Aluminum, MEBD Qatar Oil & Gas.
The Industrial Engineering Department was founded in the Academic Year 1994-95 as a branch of the faculty of Engineering with Assoc. Prof. Dr. S. Kayaligil, Assoc. Prof. Dr. P. Kas and Assoc. Prof. Dr. K. Yurtseven's great efforts and suggestions. The founder chair during the academic years 1994-98 was Assoc. Prof. Dr. K. Yurtseven who was later on succeeded by Assoc. Prof. Dr. N. Kirkavak, and by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan İzbırak.
In its first academic year, the department only had 2 Assoc. Prof. Dr.'s for the educational facilities whereas today the Industrial Engineering department has got 2 Professors, 3 Assoc. Prof. Dr. s, 3 Assist. Prof. Dr. s, 1 part-time lecturer and 14 research assistants. The present number of registered students in the Department is around 400, which is added by 80 new students each academic year. Although, the Industrial Engineering Department is the newest engineering department, the high pace of developing in educational facilities made it one of the most popular engineering departments in EMU.
From the academic year 1997-98 onwards after the first graduates of Industrial Engineering, the department had more than around 1000 graduates. Some of these graduates have started working in their occupations whereas some of them have carried on doing the postgraduate education. The Post Graduate Education program started in the academic year 1998-99. 10 graduates are in this program doing their education + research at present.
In 1996, some of the Industrial Engineering students were organized among themselves to found an Industrial Engineering Club in order to support occupational education both academically and socially.
At the present the Industrial Engineering Department has several functional computer laboratories including 140 computers (in PC Labs, Work Study and Ergonomics Lab., Optimization and Simulation Research Labs). By September 2000, the building of the department completed and two new computer labs added, namely, Flexible Manufacturing Systems and Statistical Quality Control.
The Industrial Engineering Department is to proceed its development and lastly during 12-14 June, 2000, the department took the responsibility of arranging the "21st National Operational Research & Industrial Engineering Congress" in TRNC.
